Mayor Sara ‘thankful’ she lost weight due to COVID-19 infection

DAVAO CITY – Mayor Sara “Inday” Z. Duterte-Carpio shares personal accounts after testing positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Mayor Sara jested that the effect of the disease was pleasing after she heard from people that she lost weight following the isolation.

“Daghang nagsulti na (A lot of people say that) I lost weight. So, I think okay ra sya (it has a positive result on me),” the city mayor said.

She said that losing a sense of taste contributed to her weight loss. But she reminded the public to exercise cognizance on the matter.

Mayor Sara looks at her experience on contracting COVID-19 in a positive way. She confirmed that she only had “mild symptoms”.

The mayor said she had an itchy throat at first, but after 3-4 days she lost the sense of taste. But she did not have coughs and colds.

“I got the virus from unvaccinated members of the family – the children got sick earlier and so were the adults. Good thing they were able to pull out of it. I would like to thank the frontliners for taking good care of us,” Mayor Sara said in vernacular.

Mayo Sara contracted the COVID-19 virus earlier this month and had to extend her leave of absence from the City Hall. She returned to her work here on Monday, October 25.
