James De Los Santos matched his 36-gold medal haul in last year after recently ruling the 2021 Okinawa E-Tournament World Series.
"Just finished the sixth leg of the Okinawa E-Tournament World Series. It took a little more time for me to tie my virtual gold medal record from last year," wrote De Los Santos in a Facebook post.
Abdellatif Choukri of Morroco placed second while Matias Domont of Switzerland and Alfredo Bustamante of the United States tied for the bronze medals.
De Los Santos, the World No. 1 e-karate athlete, is looking to break his own record when he competes in the Athletes' E-Tournament next month.
His 36 gold medals in 2020 propelled him to the top spot of the world rankings sanctioned by the World Karate Federation (WKF).
"It’s been a journey, but I’m still looking forward to breaking it. I’m almost there. Here we go!" added the former national team member.
