Bong Go says he’s fully ready to run as VP; respects Sara Duterte’s meet up with Bongbong

Vice presidential aspirant Senator Christopher “Bong” Go says he finds nothing wrong with Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio meeting with presidential candidate and former Senator Bongbong Marcos saying he respects her prerogative to discuss political plans with candidates of other parties.

Go made the statement following the reported meeting between President Duterte’s daughter and Marcos. Duterte-Carpio was quoted as supporting his presidential bid in the upcoming May 2022 elections.

“Prerogative naman po yan ni Mayor Sara kung sino yung gusto niyang kausapin at nire-respeto natin yun (Mayor Sara has the prerogative to choose whom she wants to talk to and we respect that). That’s part of our democratic process,” Go said in a press briefing at the opening of the 145th Malasakit Center at the PNP General Hospital.

“At meron po siyang partido at kami rin po ay merong partido, ang PDP-Laban. Nire-respeto namin ang isa’t isa. So malaking bagay po yun kung ano man tulong maibibigay ni Mayor Inday Sara at ng HNP(Hugpong ng Pagbabago) sa isang kandidato, malaking bagay po iyon at akin po yung nire-respeto (She has her own party and we have our own party, PDP-Laban. We respect each other. So whatever support Mayor Inday Sara and HNP will give to a candidate would definitely be huge and that is something I will respect),” said the senator.

As for him, the Partido ng Demokratikong Pilipino-Laban (PDP-Laban) vice presidential candidate said he is a “100 percent” ready to run for the second top government post.

Go would be running alongside Sen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, who was chosen by the PDP-Laban wing led by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi, to be the party’s standard bearer.

“Ako naman po 100 percent na po akong tatakbo.. dahil isa rin po akong public servant at ako po ay kandidato na po sa ngayon (On my part, I am 100 percent sure running for the post. Because I am also a public servant and I am a candidate now),” he said.

Nevertheless, Go said that if the Davao city mayor decides to run for president, he would fully support her bid and also campaign for her.

“Iyan po ang sinabi ko noon at pangako ko yan kay Mayor Inday Sara, hindi lang po kay Mayor Inday, siympre sa pamilya. Malaking utang na loob ko po sa pamilyang Duterte (That’s what I said before and I promised Mayor Inday Sara that. Not only with the mayor but also with the family. I have a huge personal debt to the Duterte family),” the lawmaker said.

“So kung tatakbo po siyang pangulo, full support po ako kay (So if she will run for president, I will fully support) Mayor Inday Sara Duterte,” he stressed.
