"The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) joins the community of nations in commemorating the entry into force of the UN Charter 76 years ago today," the department said in a statement.

"The Philippines remains an abiding member of the UN, faithful to the values and principles that underpin inclusive, progressive, and responsive multilateralism," it added.

UN Day is celebrated this year with the theme “Building back together for peace and prosperity.”

"The UN Charter enshrines the values of equal rights, non-discrimination, and international cooperation, which are vital today in 'building back together for peace and prosperity' for all," the DFA said.

It further stated that as a founding member of the UN, "the Philippines’ commitment to the realization of the UN's goals is unwavering."

"The Philippines’ own resolute pursuit of progress in the areas of sustainable development, peace and security, climate change, COVID-19 response, and human rights contributes to the UN’s efforts to ensure a better and more peaceful life for all of humankind," the country's Foreign Affairs department said.
