Four-division world boxing champion Donnie "Ahas" Nietes became the latest Filipino to sign with upstart promotional company Probellum.

"It’s such a great pleasure to get this promotional contract with Probellum,” said Nietes. “I am so proud to be part of it, and I am looking forward to fighting again soon so that I can continue to show my boxing abilities and technique."

He followed the footsteps of WBC bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire, who had signed with the promotion headed by president and long-time boxing promoter Richard Schaefer last October 12.

Nietes is also the 15th boxer to jump ship to Probellum, joining the likes of Donaire, Badou Jack, Regis Prograis, Eimantas Staniosis, among others.

The 39-year-old Negros Occidental native pugilist last saw action in April, scoring a unanimous decision win against Colombian foe Pablo Carillo for the vacant WBO International super flyweight title.

Prior to that, he punched two wins in 2018 over Japanese fighter Kazuto Ioka and Argentine boxer Juan Carlos Reveco and had a draw against compatriot Aston Palicte.

Nietes currently owns a 43-1-5 win-loss-draw record on top of 23 knockouts.

"We’re pleased to welcome such an illustrious boxer like Donnie Nietes to the team,” said Schaefer. “We have seen the lower weight classes finally receive the praise they deserve in recent years, and Donnie is a key part of that stacked super-flyweight division.

"He has already won world titles in four divisions, making him a true legend of the sport, and we’re proud to now be working together as we look to help him claim world honors again in the near future."
