The Chula Vista Police Department (CVPD) arrested the husband of missing Filipina May “Maya” Millete in California on Tuesday, Oct. 19.
The CVPD identified the suspect as Larry Millete, 40, Maya’s husband, who was arrested in his home.
Millete was arrested for murder and illegal possession of an assault weapon.
San Diego District Attorney Summer Stephen said that Maya had been trying to divorce her husband since 2020. He added that Maya’s last recorded call was made to a divorce attorney on Jan. 7.
US authorities suspect that Millete murdered his wife on the same day, Jan. 7.
Maya, a 39-year-old mother of three children, was reported missing on Jan. 9 by her sister.
She has not been found.
Millete is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday, Oct. 21. (Seth Cabanban)
