As it assists those who were severely affected by the recent typhoon that hit the country, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) continues to strengthen its coronavirus disease (COVID-19) response.
When it comes to testing, PRC said that as of Oct. 18, the number of reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests it has conducted has reached 4,642,819 swab and saliva samples tested.
“That's 21 percent of the tests conducted in the entire Philippines,” PRC said.
Meanwhile, PRC's vaccination efforts are also ongoing, vaccinating 332,271 doses and having 134,669 people fully vaccinated.
PRC is also continuously operating its isolation facilities, emergency field hospitals (EFH), and medical tents.
To date, PRC has already served 4,101 patients in its isolation facilities while 51,723 patients were provided medical care in its EFH.
PRC's ambulance services have already provided emergency medical care to 5,380 patients since January 2021.
There are also 100,373 beneficiaries of hot meals through PRC's Hot Meals On Wheels fleet. All that is on top of PRC's Blood Services and Convalescent Plasma.
PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dick Gordon said that the humanitarian organization continues to support the government in its fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
“We will not stop, the Red Cross will never stop, we will win our war against COVID,” Gordon added.
