Paranaque cemeteries, memorial parks closed from Oct. 29 to Nov. 2

Paranaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez issued an executive order banning visits to the cemeteries, memorial parks, and columbaria from Oct. 29 to Nov. 2.

Olivarez issued the order in line with Metro Manila Council (MMC) Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Resolution No.21-22 Series of 2021, urging all local government units to enact ordinance or adopt a resolution restricting the access to public and private cemeteries, memorial parks, and columbaria.

He is encouraging the public to remember their departed relatives in their homes through prayers.

The mayor said he issued the order to avoid the crowding of visitors in cemeteries and memorial parks.

Olivarez advises the people to visit the burial sites on other dates when there are much fewer people in order to prevent the transmission of COVID-19.

He said the local police, barangays personnel, and teams from the City Health Office (CHO) and the Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) will be deployed to ensure that his order is being implemented in the burial sites.
