‘The Kingmaker’ streams online for free. Here’s where you can watch it

As the Philippines enters a new era of political campaigns for the big government seats, people are quick to do background checks of 2022 election aspirants. Among the topics that arise in everyone’s conversation is the role of the Marcos family in the country’s history. One film has been a point reference by many and that is the 2019 documentary, “The Kingmaker.”

From just a Bloomberg article about an animal island in the South China Sea, American filmmaker Lauren Greenfield directed a documentary that created such a buzz in the Philippines. Because right at the center of her investigative work is former First Lady Imelda Marcos. With her works centering on “wealth and consumerism and materialism,” the filmmaker said that “Imelda Marcos was kind of a natural subject” in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

“The Kingmaker” is now showing online for free. Anyone who has an account on streaming platform iWantTFC can witness Lauren’s documentary, presenting “money as it relates to power and political dynasty and the kind of rewriting of history.” Solar Pictures is also preparing block screenings for the documentary this coming November.
