Paranaque Mayor Olivarez orders deployment of inspection team in cinemas

Paranaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez ordered the Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) to inspect the cinemas around the city to ensure that health protocols are being followed.

Olivarez told Atty. Melanie Soriano-Malaya, BPLO chief, to deploy her teams to conduct inspections on cinemas which are now allowed to operate under the Alert Level 3 that took effect today, Oct. 16.

Malaya said under the Inter Agency Task Force (IATF) guidelines, cinemas are allowed to open at 30 percent capacity provided that all employees are fully vaccinated.

Moviegoers must also be fully vaccinated. Minors as well as senior citizens aged 66 and above are not allowed inside the cinemas.

The BPLO chief said her team will continue to monitor and visit all the theaters in the city.

Malaya warned that cinemas will be closed or their permits will be revoked once they are caught violating the guidelines.

She said those who will be conducting meetings, seminars and other big gatherings must secure a special permit from the city government.
