Isko doubles down on political family rivalry narrative during IM rally

Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso doubled down on his anti-political rivalry narrative during the Ikaw Muna (IM) convention in Batangas on Friday, Oct. 15.

“30 years na kayo magkaaway, umunlad ba ang Pilipinas? Umunlad ba ang tao? (You’ve been fighting for 30 years, has the Philippines gotten better? Have the people gotten better?)” Domagoso said.

The local chief executive also doubled down on this as the reason why he and Dr. Willie Ong’s are currently running.

“Yan po mga kababayan bakit kami tumatakbo ni Doc Willie. Ang pinili namin, kayo, tao, hindi pulitiko (That is why Doc Willie and I are running. We chose you, not politicking).”

He added that these “families” who remain unnamed are monopolizing politics after claiming that fellow Aksyon member Samira Gutoc had been pressured.

“Para silang may monopolya ng pamamahala (It’s like they have a monopoly on leadership).

He did not expound further on the pressure faced by Gutoc.

It can be recalled that Domagoso expressed similar sentiments during his speech in the Aksyon Demokratiko oath-taking on Friday, Oct. 8.

“Ang away ng pamilyang yan walang dinulot na mabuti sa ating bayan. Sila ay tumatakbo para maghiganti sa isa’t-isa. Sila ay tumatakbo dahil sa kulay ng kanilang pulitika (The fight between their families have not done any good for our country. They run only to gain an advantage over the other. They run for the color of their politics),” he said. (Seth Cabanban)
