Taguig reaches 100% full vaccination of revised target population


The City of Taguig has fully vaccinated 100 percent of its revised target population.

According to the city government, as of Oct. 13, 611,990 individuals in Taguig have been fully immunized including those vaccinated in private hubs in the city.

Taguig’s revised target population is 611,086, or 70 percent of its total population of 872,980, based on the Department of Health 2021 population projection.

Up until July, TRACE Taguig, the city government’s arm in-charge of vaccination, originally used 680,000 as the city’s target population but later changed it to 611,086, or lower by 68,014 individuals.

Based on the DOH’s Population Projections by Region, Province, City/Municipality and Barangay from 2020-2025 released last year, Taguig has an estimated total population of 872,983 for 2021.

“Taguig City will continue to focus on its community-based vaccination program. The City has made vaccination more accessible by establishing vaccinations in its 31 health centers with a daily capacity of 50 people per site, the continuous operation of the City's 4 Mega Vaccination Hubs which can administer 1,000 per hub daily, and the 2 Mobile Vaccination buses. Taguig also continues to implement Home Service Vaccination for bedridden citizens or with poor prognosis” according to a Facebook post by the Taguig City government.

It said it is also preparing for the vaccination of minors aged 12 to 17 with the rollout starting with those with comorbidities.

Meanwhile, Taguig recorded the third highest number of new COVID-19 cases among local government units in the country for Oct. 13, according to Dr. Guido David of OCTA Research.

The data, based on DOH’s COVID Data Drop, showed Taguig has 201 new COVID-19 cases for Oct. 13, the third highest after Quezon City’s 474 and Manila’s 203.

OCTA Research revealed the data for the National Capital Region showing Taguig placing fourth in Metro Manila based on average daily attack rate (ADAR) of 20.05 or number of new daily cases per 100,000 from Oct. 7 to 13.

Taguig’s infection or reproduction number is 0.7, the third highest in NCR and its intensive care unit (ICU) occupancy rate is 100 percent as of Oct. 12, the highest in Metro Manila.

The city’s one-week growth rate from Sept. 30-Oct. 6 to Oct. 7-13 decreased by 18 percent and its daily average number of new cases from Oct. 7-13 stood at 175, the second highest in Metro Manila.
