‘Habagat’ to bring rain showers, thunderstorms over parts of Luzon - PAGASA

Rain showers and thunderstorms may be experienced over parts of Luzon due to the southwest monsoon or “habagat”, the state weather bureau said Thursday, October 14.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the habagat would be affecting Luzon.

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may affect Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and Central Luzon.

State meteorologists warned against flash floods or landslides that may occur due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

The rest of the country, meanwhile, may have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to habagat and localized thunderstorms.

On the other hand, a gale warning has been raised over the western seaboard of southern Luzon, particularly over Occidental Mindoro including Lubang Island, and the western coast of Palawan including Kalayaan Islands.

The weather bureau said rough to very rough sea conditions may be experienced over the said areas, with waves reaching up to 4.5 meters.

“Fishing boats and other small sea craft are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves,” PAGASA said.
