Vaccination rate in NCR reaches 80 percent

Paranaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez, chairman of the Metro Manila Council (MMC), reported on Tuesday that 80 percent of the eligible adult population in National Capital Region (NCR) had been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

During a phone interview, Olivarez said the MMC is hoping to finish the vaccination of the remaining 20% percent of the target population by early November.

The mayor added that most of the local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila have already achieved their goal of inoculating 70 percent of their total population.

Olivarez said in Paranaque City, 83.69 percent of the 521,410 target population had been fully vaccinated, while 100.19 percent received the first dose.

He said the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) will meet on Thursday to determine the next quarantine classification for NCR since the Alert Level 4 will end on Oct. 15.

The mayor said the next quarantine status in Metro Manila will depend on the data of the Department of Health on the COVID reproduction rate and hospital utilization rate.
