Man arrested for desecrating PH flag at NAIA


A 27-year old man was arrested after he was accused of desecrating the Philippine flag at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Sunday, Oct. 10.

He was identified as Jay-ar Beril, of Bautista Compound, Purok 8 in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

Based on the report of the NAIA police, Beril was seen lowering the Philippine flag at the flag pole of the NAIA Terminal 3 in Pasay City. Witnesses said the flag touched the ground as Beril tried to raise the flag again.

And when he did, the red color part of the flag was on top. The blue color should be on top of the red flag except in times of war.

One of the airport police spotted him and this resulted in his arrest.

The suspect is facing charges relating to violation of Republic Act 8491 ( An Act Prescribing the Code of the National Flag, Anthem, Motto, Coat-of-Arms and other Heraldic Items and Devices of the Philippines and unjust vexation.
