Navotas LGU approves ordinance waiving interests on taxes, fees

The Navotas City local government approved on Thursday an ordinance removing the charging of interests on certain taxes and fees of the residents.

Navotas City Mayor Toby Tiangco enacted City Ordinance No. 2021-51 which will waive the interest, penalties and surcharges on all taxes and fees that are due for payment from Aug. 6, 2021 to Oct. 31.

The ordinance includes business tax permits, real property tax, permit to operate e-bikes subject for renewal of two years, regulatory stickers for public utility jitneys, tax on transfer of real property ownership, and other fees.

Tiangco said the ordinance was passed because many businesses were affected by the restrictions associated with the community quarantine due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The measure aims to help the city entrepreneurs and to reduce their worries while maintaining health and safety protocols in the city.
