Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa pulled off a huge surprise by filing his candidacy for president for the administration Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) just before the close of the filing process at the Sofitel Hotel Harbor Garden Tent in Pasay City on October 8, 2021. Thus, Dela Rosa becomes the standard bearer of PDP-Laban, and he will be in tandem with Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, who had earlier cast his lot in the vice presidential race.

Also on the political front, Manila Mayor and Aksyon Demokratiko presidential bet Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso chided Vice President and fellow presidential contender Leni Robredo for dwelling too much on the alleged abuses of former president Ferdinand Marcos as one of her major reasons for running.

These are among the top stories this Saturday morning, October 9, 2021.
