Eleazar orders probe on death of a bike rider in Cavite

Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar, chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), ordered on Saturday, Oct. 9, a through investigation that will lead to the immediate identification of the persons behind the killing of a bike rider in Kawit, Cavite on October.

The family of Kenneth Ponce appealed to Eleazar to bring justice to the victim who was initially thought as a victim of hit-and-run. He turned out to have been shot and his bicycle is missing.

His body was found along Abaya Road, Barangay Tabon in Kawit.

"I already ordered the Regional Director, Police Brig. Gen. Eliseo Cruz to monitor the progress of this case to immediately identify those responsible," said Eleazar.

Eleazar also tasked the unit commanders to determine the schedules and routes of bike riders so that they may conduct police patrols and ensure their safety. Bicycles are being commonly used now amid the pandemic as a mode of transportation.

He appealed to the public to help authorities in resolving this case by providing pertinent information about the crime.
