DOH reports 10,670 more COVID-19 infections

The Department of Health (DOH) reported 10,670 new cases of coronavirus disease on Friday, Oct. 8.

The newly-detected cases brought the country's running tally of cases to 2,643,494.

Also, the death toll jumped to 39,232 after 191 more patients died. The death toll also includes the 104 deaths reported in a separate advisory by the DOH.

The recovery tally increased by 7,691 to 2,486,059, the DOH also stated in its latest bulletin.

"Fifty-seven duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 42 are recoveries," the DOH said.

Meanwhile, the number of active cases in the Philippines stood at 118,203 or 4.5 percent of the total tally of cases.

Of those who are still sick, 77.7 percent of them are in mild condition, 13.4 percent did not show symptoms, 1.1 percent are critical, 2.7 percent are severe, and 5.15 percent are in moderate condition.
