‘Walang madaling laban,’ says reelectionist Pangasinan Gov. Espino

DAGUPAN CITY – Pangasinan Governor Amado “Pogi” Espino III filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for reelection for his third and last term of office in the 2022 elections.

Espino filed his (COC) at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) provincial office early Thursday morning, October 7.

With him was his running mate, incumbent 2nd District Board member Nestor "Nikiboy" Reyes, along with their line-up for the provincial board members.

Espino is running under the PDP-Laban and a regional party, Abante Pangasinan Ilocano (API).

In an interview, Espino said he will continue the 'Abig Pangasinan' (Heal Pangasinan), a flagship program of the provincial government which was launched amid the COVID-19 pandemic that provides basic health and social services to Pangasinenses.

"Pang-walong pag-file ko na ito ng COC. Walang madaling laban, lahat mahirap. Tao na ang magde-decide dahil darating ang panahon para makilala nila kami," Espino said.

Espino is the son of former Pangasinan Governor and Congressman Amado Espino Jr who was ambushed in Sept. 2019.

Meanwhile, incumbent Pangasinan 5th District Rep. Ramon 'Mon-Mon' Guico III also filed his COC at 11 am today to challenge the gubernatorial bid of Pogi Espino.

Guico will run together with incumbent Vice Governor Mark Ronald Lambino.
