Man stabs drinking buddy to death in Tondo


A 38-year-old man was stabbed to death while having a drinking session in Tondo, Manila on Monday, Oct. 4.

According to the Manila Police Department (MPD), the incident happened at 2:20 a.m. along Varona St., corner Panday Pira, Tondo, Manila on Monday.

The victim, Michael John Gonzales, 38, a resident of Tondo, Manila, was rushed to the hospital but later succumbed to his wounds at the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center at 7:00 a.m.

The MPD Police Station 1 identified the suspect as Brian Sanquer Alcoriza, 29, jobless, and a resident of Tondo, Manila.

According to witnesses, Gonzales was having a drinking session with Alcoriza when an altercation ensued between them. Alcoriza pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim who sustained several stab wounds on the neck and back.

After the incident, Alcoriza was immediately apprehended by the MPD police. He is now under the custody of the MPD Homicide Section. (Lemuel Baruela)
