34 illegal gamblers nabbed in QC


Operatives of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) arrested 34 illegal gamblers over the weekend.

Police Brig. Gen. Antonio Yarra, QCPD chief, said the suspects were nabbed during police operations that started Friday, Oct. 1.

Police said 11 suspects were arrested for playing illegal numbers game, six for card games, and 17 for engaging in other forms of gambling.

Confiscated from the suspects were several betting lists, basketball ending cards, lotteng booklets, illegal gambling paraphernalia, eight fighting cocks, and bet money, according to the police report.

The suspects will be charged with violation of Presidential Decree 1602 (Illegal Gambling) before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.

Meanwhile, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) director Major Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. urged the city police force to continue the fight against all forms of illegal gambling. (Aaron Dioquino)
