Here are the 10 top-grossing films in Korea in September


Marvel Studios’ “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” and the Korean action film “On the Line” became the top-grossing films in South Korea for the month of September.

The Korean Film Council (KOFIC), which tracks box office receipts, released the list of the top movies in South Korea for the month.

“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” starring Simu Liu, was released in Korea on Sept. 1. It is the top-grossing film in September with 1,684,616 tickets sold and gross of $14.44 million.

Placing second is “On the Line” starring Byun Yo-han, Kim Mu-yeol and Park Myung-hoon. Released on Sept. 15, it recorded 1.02 million in total admissions and revenue of $8.54 million.

The Korean film “Miracle,” released on Sept. 15 starring Park Jung-min, Lee Sung-min and Yoon-a, grabbed third place with 487,174 tickets sold and gross of $3.85 million.

“Escape from Mogadishu,” starring Kim Yoon-seok and Jo In-sung, and released on July 28, placed fourth with 464,645 in total admissions and revenue of $3.75 million.

“Hostage: Missing Celebrity,” starring Hwang Jung-min and released on Aug. 18, is in fifth place with 417,320 tickets sold and gross of $3.13 million.
