The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has so far extended P22.1 million worth of family food packs (FFPs) to the local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila, as of Sept. 30.

“The assistance comprised of 15,500 FFPs that were prepositioned to 16 LGUs in Metro Manila, and 21,222 FFPs which were released to the LGUs of Caloocan, Pasay, Pateros, San Juan, and Quezon City upon receipt of official request,” the DSWD said in a statement on Friday, Oct. 1.

The social welfare department assured that food packs are readily available for the Pasig LGU should they implement granular lockdown.

It noted that the DSWD Field Office (FO) National Capital Region (NCR) has been informed by the Pasig LGUs that it has not implemented any lockdowns yet.

Memorandum Circular No. 11, series of 2021 provides that the provision of FFPs is a co-sharing responsibility of DSWD and the concerned LGUs.

“Households in lockdown areas are expected to receive food packs from their respective LGU for the first seven days while the DSWD will augment on the eight and following days of the quarantine,” the DSWD said.

It vowed to continue coordinating with the LGUs of Metro Manila to immediately facilitate the augmentation of FFPs and other necessary assistance for the affected communities.
