‘’In 2016, we made history. In 2022, we will repeat our victory.’’
This was the statement issued today, Friday October 1, by Senator Risa Hontiveros after filing her certificate of candidacy (COC) in seeking another six-year term in the 24-member Senate through the forthcoming May 2022 national and local elections.
She filed before noon her COC with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) at the Harbor Garden Tent of Sofitel hotel in Pasay city.
She is running under the Akbayan party.
In a statement, Hontiveros said:
- ‘’Five years ago, Risa Hontiveros won a historic victory. She broke the glass ceiling for women, progressives, and ordinary people in the Senate.
- ‘’Risa passed the most important laws, defended and took care of the disadvantaged and fought many of the biggest fights.
- ‘’May kakampi ang ordinaryong tao kapag si Risa ay nasa Senado (Ordinary people have an ally in the Senate in the person of Risa). Let's support her as she continues the fight anew.’’
