Go hits social media fake news, calls for discernment among Filipinos

Senator Christopher ‘’Bong’’ Go on Friday, Oct. 1 said he is not wasting his time responding to obviously fake news items.

He was reacting to a social media report that he has lent his chief of staff to the camp of Mayor Isko Moreno, a presidential candidate, ahead of the 2022 presidential election.

‘’Obviously fake news. Sayang oras kung patulan pa lahat ng fake news (I will only waste my time responding to all fake news),’’ he said.

Go, chairman of the Senate Health and Sports committees, said fake news regularly come out as the election approaches.

He asked the people to be discerning on ‘’information’’ or ‘’reports’’ that would come out in the coming days.

Go emphasized that his and President Duterte’s time are focused in helping the nation so that Filipinos could overcome the COVID-19 pandemic.

‘’Bakit namin sasayangin ang oras namin sa pulitika ng ibang kampo (Why should we waste our time on the politics of the other camp?),’’ he asked.

‘’Tulad naman ng sabi ko noon, hindi ko iiwan si Pangulong Duterte hanggang sa aking huling hininga (As I have previously stated, I will not leave the President until I die). Kung saan siya, doon ako (I will always be by his side). Pagdating sa aming prinsipyo, pagseserbisyo at pati na rin sa pulitika, walang iwanan (I will forsake our principles, public service and political bond),’’ he added.
