Leonor Briones, secretary of the Department of Education, has been chosen as Lifetime Contributor Awardee by the Board of Judges of Asia CEO Awards 2021.
“Education must continue,” are the words that the education secretary is recently most known by. While education in many countries ground to a halt and families were left with no support, she was adamant that the development of the nation’s young people would be maintained.
Excelling in diverse sectors, few people have had as exceptional a career as Briones. She spent much of her career as an educator. She was previously chair of the board of trustees of Silliman University, and regent of the Universidad de Manila. Before her current posting as secretary of education, she was secretary of the Commission of Audit and served as the treasurer of the Philippines. Briones became Lead Convenor of Social Watch Philippines and reported to the United Nations on social development issues. She has had board directorships with premier Philippine companies.
Briones will receive the distinction from Asia CEO Awards on stage along with the elite of the nation at Asia CEO Awards 2021 on Oct. 12 at ceremonies, which will be livestreamed on the Asia CEO Awards Facebook page (and the Asia CEO Forum Facebook page. Asia CEO Awards is the largest business awards event in the Philippines and one of the largest events of its kind in the Asia Pacific region.
