Abby Binay files COC for re-election as Makati City mayor

Makati City Mayor Abby Binay filed her Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for re-election in the upcoming 2022 election through her representative Atty. Jason Certeza.

Mayor Abby Binay

Binay previously served in Congress as Representative of Makati's 2nd District from 2007 to 2016.

She served as mayor of Makati on June 27, 2016, the fourth Binay to govern the city in years after her father Jejomar, mother Elenita, and brother Junjun.

On July 1, Binay was appointed to the Board of mayors and leaders to represent Southeast Asia on the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy (GCoM) Mayoral Board.

The GCoM counts among its members more than 10,500 cities and local governments from six continents, 142 countries, and 900 million people committed to addressing the climate crisis.

Under Binay’s leadership, Makati has been globally recognized as one of the most innovative cities in the world and in the last five years, she has led and implemented disaster risk reduction and management, climate change adaptation, and sustainable development efforts in the city.
