Netizens cannot get over a birthday cake ordered from well-known bakery Tous Les Jours that had a funny icing dedication.
Customer Cha De Castro ordered an Ube Party Cake from Tous Les Jours branch in Serendra in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig through Grab delivery last Sept. 23.
“Nag-order ako kanina ng Ube Party Cake thru Grab and nagchat ako kay grab driver na paki sabi sa store pakilagyan po ng ‘Happy Birthday!’ kahit sa body na lang ng cake. Pagkadeliver sa office…tsaraaaan!!!” she posted on Facebook.
What was delivered was an Ube Party Cake with the icing dedication that read, “Happy Birthday Sa body ng Cake.”
“Ayy amboooot! Bwahaha!” added De Castro.
The funny cake went viral and as of writing, De Castro’s post has garnered more than 9,700 shares, more than 1,500 comments and more than 25,000 reactions.
Upon learning of the incident, Tous Les Jours Philippines issued an apology.
“Tous Les Jours Philippines would like to apologise for the circulating post regarding the miswritten dedication on the cake. We are currently undertaking a thorough investigation on this incident. Rest assured that we are taking steps to prevent reoccurrence of such incident,” it posted on Facebook.
The bakery also clarified that no one was fired because of the incident and announced that all of its items would be sold with a 20 percent discount for Sept. 25 and 26.
“Nobody’s perfect and we all make mistakes. Rest assured, no one has been let go due to this incident. Instead, dahil sa body ng cake, here is 20% OFF ON ALL ITEMS for this weekend only at all TLJ branches nationwide! Simply quote “We’re sorry sa body ng cake!” at check-out,” it said.
De Castro also edited her post to say, “Ang post po na ito ay for Good Vibes only. Nag apologize po ang Grab at TLJ sa nangyari. Wala rin pong katotohanan na may natanggalan po ng trabaho.”
