Figaro Group to source poultry only from animal-friendly farms

The Figaro Group is ensuring that the chicken products it uses are sourced from animal-welfare friendly farms and growers by partnering with The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) for The Better Chicken Option (TBCO) campaign.

The standards being pushed by TBCO are directly connected with the natural behavior of chickens. Farms are encouraged to provide perches, pecking materials and dry, clean litter that would allow the chickens to engage in normal perching.

The FIGARO Group said in a statement that it serves several chicken items in its menu and supports the idea that the animal welfare needs of chickens should be met before they end up on our customers’ plates because it is the right thing to do.

The company believes this mark of compassion is important to its customers as well.

“While we recognize that it will take a few more years for the campaign to be the norm for all growers and for farms to be at par with global animal welfare standards, the Figaro Group prides itself in being a trail-blazer of good quality food and a proud supporter of animal welfare,” the group said.

With this, Figaro Coffee, Angel’s Pizza, Tien Ma’s and The Figaro Group Online will now showcase a TBCO mark on their chicken product ads, and will encourage their chicken suppliers to adopt the TBCO standards.

“The hope to inspire other food establishments to do the same is a goal worth fighting for,” Figaro said.
