TRANSCRIPT: Preliminary interview of MUPH’s fan-favorites

The Top 28 finalists of Miss Universe Philippines recently had their preliminary interview.

Among those that went viral are the answers of fan-favorites: Masbate’s Kirsten Danielle Delavin (who topped the Headshot and Video Introduction Challenges), Pangasinan’s Maureen Christa Wroblewitz (who topped the Casting Video Challenge), and Cebu’s Steffi Rose Aberasturi (who topped the Runway Challenge).

HERE'S THE TRANSCRIPT:

QUESTION #1: What's the most important lesson you learned in the past week?

Delavin: "I think it's embracing the moment, really enjoying the moment for what it is, like a song. I think I met so many people the past week that I really treasure. And I think that, of course, it's on my dream, the Miss Universe crown, but I also just embrace the moment, and that's one of the best parts."

Wroblewitz: "In the past week that everything happened for a reason and that we have experienced a lot of complications but we already know that that's part of what we are experiencing right now which is a pandemic. So we just need to stay positive and stay grateful for what is happening in our lives right now."

Aberasturi: "The most important lesson I've learned for the past week is for me the importance of compassion. You have to be like passionate about the things you want in life. And Being part of Miss Universe Philippines, I've realized that this is the thing I really passionate about and I want to be that bridge to connect to the people."

QUESTION #2: If beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, in whose eyes are you beautiful?

Delavin: "In my own eyes. I always make sure that everyday when I go out, when I'm doing my own make-up that my standard of beauty is myself. We all have our preferences on what's beautiful but I think that I am beautiful because I am me. I think if I can show a girl that she can feel like that as well, that something that I would be proud of for the rest of my life."

Wroblewitz: "In my own eyes. I think that's the most important, to be beautiful when you look at yourself in the mirror. And that's why I have learned the importance of self-love and through self-love I have learned to embrace every part of me, good or bad. And that is what I have learned is the most important thing."

Aberasturi: "Probably in God and my family. For sure that my family is very proud of me for being here. And For sure that they can say that I am beautiful in every way that I am."

QUESTION #3: If we truly learn from our mistakes, would you advise a young person to keep making them?

Delavin: "Absolutely! I think when I was 17 years old I have made so many mistakes in my life. Just thinking about them right now makes me nervous but I think all those mistakes like not trusting myself enough to love someone. All those mistakes will make me take more risks in the future and now. Which is why I always take more risk now because I used not to."

Wroblewitz: "Well you should still try to achieve the best and still strive to be the best version of yourself, but you just need to recognize that mistakes are part of success and that you need to learn from your mistakes so you can do better the next time."

Aberasturi: "For me there would always be challenges in our life. For me I advise them to keep trying and trying until they succeed in life. But I will never suggest you keep repeating that mistake but for them to learn from the past, learn from that mistake and for them to move on and better."

QUESTION #4: If you have the power to do one of the following: Eliminate poverty and hunger, a government with no graft and corruption, or solve all environmental problems, which would you choose?

Delavin: "I think the closest thing to my heart is eliminating hunger because coming from Masbate, there are a lot of places out there that really need, children who need nourishment. And I think that's one of the biggest things that I need to focus on as a privileged person. I am not ashamed of my privilege but I think that I should do more in my whole life and especially as a miracle baby."

Wroblewitz: "I will choose the government without corruption because if we don't have corruption we would also not see the poverty. We would see government that takes care of its people. We would see a government who prioritize the safety, the healthcare and then, of course, our environment which is all very important."

Aberasturi: "For me I would go with the poverty. My heart really goes for these people and my heart feels for them. For me we should go with hand-in-hand, poverty should go with education. For me education is the key or the gateway to the universe and for us to have a better future in life."

QUESTION #5: If you were to add cart one item to buy on Lazada to send to all Filipinas to help inspire them during this time, what would it be and why?

Delavin: "I think it's a rosary because that's what my mother gave me when I went into the pageant. My mother was nervous about me coming into a pageant because she thinks that I always need here, but I always do need her. But I also have the strength that wherever I go, I can do my best because the rosary is with me."

Wroblewitz: "I would say to go with the motivational card or motivational book with some quotes because I think we all need a little bit of positivity everyday. It will definitely help us get through the worst times."

Aberasturi: "For me being a 'Queendera', I've been selling tons of clothes. And for me with clothes, I feel like a princess. I want that people like the ladies out there, women, to be empowered through wearing a beautiful dress for them to walk on stage and be confident in themselves."
