Pasay cops help vendor deliver baby on street

Pasay City police officers on Friday night helped a pregnant vendor safely deliver her baby on the street beside a police sub-station.

Capt. Judge Rowe Donato, chief of Baclaran Police Sub-Station, said bystanders saw a pregnant vendor named “Aira” in pain and was about to give birth at the corner of Narra St. and Taft Ave. in Barangay 145 Zone 16 at about 6:50 p.m.

He said Staff Sgt. Vanessa Camesera, who has knowledge in medical emergency response, immediately helped the mother in delivering her baby boy on the pavement.

Donato, however, said they could not cut the baby’s umbilical cord, prompting him to dispatch their patrol car to rush the mother and the infant to the Pasay City General Hospital.

He said the nurse who assisted the police team told them that the baby may have died if they were 5 to 10 minutes late in bringing the mother and child to the hospital.

The police official said his team was thankful and happy because the baby boy was delivered safely and healthy.
