The Philippines recorded no new deaths related to coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Friday, Sept. 24.

The Department of Health (DOH) explained that this was due to the technical issue encountered by its COVID-19 data system. The country also recorded zero deaths last July 23.

“The Department of Information and Communications Technology is currently addressing issues encountered by the system,” the DOH said.

With this, the country’s COVID-19 death toll remained at 37,405.

Meanwhile, the country's cumulative case count jumped to 2,453,328, of which, 7.1 percent or 175,324 are active cases. The DOH recorded 18,659 new cases on Friday.

Eighty-eight percent of the sick patients have mild symptoms, 6.9 percent are asymptomatic, 0.7 percent are critical, 1.5 percent are severe, and 2.84 percent are in moderate condition.

Also, there were 9,088 more patients who have recovered. These brought the recovery total to 2,240,599 or 91.3 percent of the case total.

“Pinapaalala po namin na magaprehistro at agad na magpabakuna kapag oras niyo na (We are reminding the public to register and get vaccinated immediately when it's your time),” said DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire.

“Kahit po tayo ay bakunado na, huwag po natin kakalimutan sumunod sa minimum public health standards upang patuloy nating mapaigting ang ating proteksyon para sa ating sarili (Even though we have been vaccinated, let us not forget to adhere to the minimum public health standards so that we can continue to strengthen our protection for ourselves) and of course for your family and community,” she added.
