The Pasay City government and the Department of Transportation (DOTR) forged a partnership for the construction of an integrated monorail project which was proposed by SM Prime Holdings Inc.

Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano and DOTR Secretary Arthur Tugade signed a Memorandum of Agreement on Wednesday (September 22) for the construction of the Pasay Integrated Monorail and EDSA-Tramo Flyover Extension Project.

Posted on the Facebook page of the Pasay City Public Information Office (PIO), the 1.89-kilometer monorail system will be integrated and interoperable with several modes of transport including the Light Rail Transit Line-I Metro Rail transit Line-3, EDSA Busway and EDSA Greenways.

The project is expected to generate more jobs and address the problem of traffic congestion.

The monorail system will also provide passengers faster access to the Bay Area, the central business district of Pasay City.

The MOA signing was held at Conrad Manila and was witnessed by Pasay City Vice-Mayor Noel del Rosario, DOTR Undersecretary for Finance Giovanni Lopez, Undersecretary for Railways Timothy John Batan, Philippine National Railways (PNR) General Manager Junn Magno, and other officials from the Pasay City government.
