Twelve nuns at the Carmelite Monastery in Tanay, Rizal have tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

"We are 18 sisters in the monastery and 12 sisters tested positive of COVID," the Carmelite sisters said in a statement.

"At present, we can be considered as mild cases and symptomatic," they added.

The carmelite sisters said that all of them were fully vaccinated against the viral illness except one who is still taking an oral chemotherapy.

They said that they will continue to pray for those afflicted with COVID-19.

“To all of you, especially all those who are asking our prayers for your dear ones, who are suffering from COVID and those who are sick with COVID, at this time of pandemic, we are offering prayers together with you,” the nuns said.

“Let us take courage because God is with us,” they added.
