PFA to name most promising new franchise concepts at Franchise Asia Philippines 2021 Virtual Conference

The Philippine Franchise Association (PFA) will announce the new franchising concepts that show the best promise for growth and success during the three-day Franchise Asia Philippines 2021 Virtual Conference scheduled to open on September 21 until September 23.

Dubbed the NextGen in Franchising, the competition is now on its 7th year and pits young entrepreneurs with innovative and highly franchisable business concepts.

“Three food entrepreneurs are vying for this year’s title,” announces NextGen in Franchising 2021 Chair Joel Tugade. “The top 3 come from a pool of 36 entries and 14 semi-finalists.”

“The competition aims to encourage young Filipino entrepreneurs to step up and accelerate their business growth through franchising,” Tugade added.

“We started the program as the Philippine Edition of NextGen in Franchising Global Competition organized by the US-based International Franchise Association (IFA),” says PFA Director for ASEAN and Special Projects Chris Lim, who introduced the NextGen in Franchising competition in the country.

“We are happy that our competition here continues to discover emerging franchise concepts, which have the potential to be the next global franchise brands in the country.”

Meet the Finalists

Michael Allan Canlas is the President and CEO of Bang Bang Special Crispy Bangus – a brand with a unique concept of Bangus recipes such as Original, Cheese, Inasal, Salted Egg, and Spicy Pares. Their unique value proposition is to give something new to the consumers which they can enjoy any time of the day or a staple in every celebration.

Next is Angelo Jade Rivera who is the Co-Founder and President of Kamir Authentic Shawarma – a concept that takes pride of their original Middle Eastern tasting shawarma. They are also the first to offer a foot long shawarma, which is perfect for sharing and, therefore, friendly to the budget.

Rounding up the three finalists is Camille San Diego who owns The Plant-Based Project, which offers vegan meals for those looking for healthier options. Pivoting to the new normal, the brand launched frozen goods, bottled spreads and a weekly meal plan subscription for customers who want to maintain a healthy vegan diet.

The NextGen in Franchising 2021 finals happens on September 23 and is one of the highlights of Franchise Asia Philippines 2021 Virtual Conference, where the finalists will make a 3-minute elevator pitch. The grand prize winner will be determined via poll voting by the conference delegates, which includes potential investors.
