Bianca Pagdanganan 8 strokes behind leader at Portland Classic

Tokyo Olympian Bianca Pagdanganan shot a two-under par 70 and improved to joint 20th place in the second round of the Cambia Portland Classic Friday (Saturday, Sept. 18 in Manila) at The Oregon Golf Club in West Linn, Oregon.

After an opening round of 74 that saw Pagdanganan mixed five birdies and five bogeys to go with a double bogey on the par-5 15, the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games double gold medalist had a better performance this time.

The 23-year-old Pagdanganan had birdies on 4, 7, 12, 14 and 18, while she made bogeys on 3, 5 and 17.

With a two-day aggregate score of 144, Pagdanganan is currently in a three-way tie for 20th to 22nd spots with Ashleigh Buhai of South Africa (70-74) and Mi Jung Hur of South Korea (69-75).

The three are eight strokes behind leader and world No. 2 Jin Young Ko of Korea who fired a 67 following her first round 69 for 136. She enjoys a shot advantage on Gemma Dryburgh of Scotland who is at 137 after a 68 and 69.

At third is Carlota Ciganda of Spain at 139, followed by Americans Alana Uriell and Andrea Lee, Koreans Jeongeun Lee, Jenny Shin and Jeongeun Lee6, Australia’s Su Oh and Thailand’s Pajaree Anannarukarn at fourth to 10th places at 140.

On the other hand, Dottie Ardina, the other Filipino in the $1.4 million event, improved a little with a two-over 74 to go with her 75 in the first round. At 146, she is tied for 57th to 69th spots.
