It noted that “He was instrumental and very much involved in our Initial Public Offering (IPO) Roadshows in 2013, until we listed publicly in May 2013.” “As a member of the Credit Committee and Executive Committee, his credit background and experience made its mark on both young and experienced Account Officers.

“As a member of the Board of Directors, his wisdom and insights on corporate governance, risk management and people and organization, contributed significantly to the bank for close to a decade now.

“And as an AUBanker, his charm and wit endeared him to all those around him,” AUB said.

The bank said Sy “was a paragon of professionalism, commitment and integrity. More importantly, he was known for his genuine concern and care for people. A true gentleman, indeed.”

“Mr. Sy, the AUB family is grateful for the years you have dedicated and shared with us. We have nothing but respect and admiration for you, and we will always be grateful for your mentoring and inspiration,” it added.
