Pasay City opens new COVID -19 isolation facility


The Pasay City government has opened a new COVID-19 isolation facility at Villamor Airbase Elementary School (VABES) to accommodate more patients infected with the virus.

Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said VABES was the fourth isolation facility in the city that can accommodate 50 patients.

Rubiano said 40 COVID-19 patients are now confined in the facility.

She said the other isolation facilities in the city are located at Mall of Asia (MOA) with 109 beds, Folk Arts Theater (FAT) with 79 beds, Pasay City Sports Complex with 54 beds, and Burgos Elementary School with 42 beds.

She said the City Health Office reported on Thursday (Sept. 16) that a total of 86 patients were admitted to MOA facility -- 64 Pasay residents and 22 non-residents. The facility currently has 23 vacant beds.

The FAT isolation facility has 69 COVID patients, 65 of them are Pasay residents and four are non-residents. It now has 10 vacant beds.

In Burgos Elementary School, the CHO recorded a total of 28 admitted patients -- 25 Pasay residents and three non-residents. It has 14 vacant beds.

At the Pasay City Sports Complex, 43 patients were admitted – 42 from the city and one from another city. It still has 14 vacant beds.
