Mayor Emi confident new alert system will help lower COVID-19 cases

Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano expressed confidence that the new alert system on quarantine classifications imposed by the national government could help avert the rising coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in Metro Manila.

“Kampante naman po ako na magtatagumpay ang bagong quarantine classification na ipinaiiral ng IATF dito sa Metro Manila,” (I am confident that the new quarantine classification imposed by the IATF in Metro Manila will succeed), Rubiano said.

Rubiano said the local government is well-prepared for the new system since it has been imposing granular lockdowns even before the new system was set up.

She said the city calls it localized lockdown and there are police and barangay officials deployed in the areas that have been placed under lockdowns.

The mayor also said the city government is placing houses with two or more cases of COVID-19 under lockdown. If the house is located in one compound, the whole compound will be placed under localized lockdown.

Rubiano also rallied her constituents to comply with the new quarantine system which was put in place on Thursday (September 16), placing the entire Metro Manila under Alert Level 4.

“Sa akin pong mga minamahal na mga taga Pasay, sana po makipagtulungan po tayo sa ating IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force) at sa DOH (Department of Health) at sundin ang lahat ng alintuntunin na kanilang ipinatutupad,” (To my beloved Pasay residents, please cooperate with the IATF and DOH by complying with the guidelines), the mayor said.

Rubiano added that the local government is fully supportive of the new quarantine scheme saying that the virus can only be eliminated through the full cooperation between the government and the public.
