Do the hair flip sans the frizz
With salon visits few and far between, and with virtual meetings almost done on a daily basis, what’s a girl to do with frizzy hair? Tying it into a bun can strain our scalp—it can even give that “losyang” vibe that we don’t ever want to have.
Dyson heard all of you and have released their newest Dyson Supersonic hair dryer with a new hair tool that promises to smoothen stray strands and keep frizzy hair away. The new flyaway curved attachment has been road tested to harness the Coanda effect. Similar to the Dyson Airwrap styler, it lifts longer strands up while pushing flyaways and short strands down—tucking it out of sight.
“Our engineers are driven to rethink convention and our obsession with airflow led us to push the potential of Coanda after observing how stylists use a ‘brush and blow dryer’ technique to smooth flyaways. Traditionally, this skilled technique involves the stylist using a round brush to section and manage the hair, whilst directing airflow fro the dryer to push the flyaways into the style and out of sight. We set out to find a way to innovate a way to mechanise this method for the everyday styler. The new Dyson Flyaway Attachment harnesses the phenomenon of Coanda to smooth flyaways out of sight, without exposing the hair to extreme heat damage,” says Dyson hair care category director Emma Sheldon.
This hair dryer is powered by the brand’s digital motor V9, spinning up to 110,000 revolutions per minute which is up to six times faster than other hair dryers. It also comes with Intelligent Heat Control that keeps temperature just right so as not to damage your locks. Damaged hair can lead to brittleness and breakage, which results to flyaways. Even Jen Atkin, Dyson Global Styling Ambassador, agrees, “I think we can all agree that flyaway frustration is real! Nothing feels as good as that salon blow dry finish. The trick to tame annoying flyaways is a core skill for a stylist. However, we want our clients to now be able to get that same glossy finish at home. Dyson’s latest attachment does exactly that—it allows smooth seekers to get a super sleek finish, on their own, not just from the salon.”
