‘SalBaBida’ program releases first tranche of cash assistance for medical workers


CEBU CITY—The Project Balik Buhay (PBB), a public-private group which aims to help the government mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, has turned over the first tranche of salary and cash assistance to a group of medical workers that it called “COVID heroes.”

Through PBB’s SalBaBida Program or the Salary and Bonus Assistance for our Bidas, each nurse employed by the participating PBB private hospitals received P15,000 for the month of August.

The SalBaBida program was launched in July. At that time, hospitals in Metro Cebu were overwhelmed with COVID-19 patients.

The PBB, which is initiated by the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas, help hire additional nurses where it offered cash incentives to entice more applicants.

Participating private hospitals include Chong Hua Hospital - Fuente, Chong Hua Hospital - Mandaue, Cebu Doctors’ University Hospital Group, Perpetual Succour Hospital, ARC Hospital, Cebu Velez General Hospital, Adventist Hospital Cebu, Southwestern University Medical Center, St. Vincent General Hospital, The Hospital by Maayo Well, and Visayas Community Medical Center.
