Kalilangan Elementary School gets new CRs

KALILANGAN, Iligan City — The Barangay Kalilangan Elementary School has inaugurated a newly constructed 4-cubicle comfort rooms Saturday September 11.

The construction of a four-cubicle comfort room was made possible and jointly funded by the Kiwanis Club of Metropolitan Iligan and Kiwanis Club of Downtown Iligan duly implemented by the 55th Engineer “Mobilizer” Brigade through the 554th Engineer “Kalilintad” Battalion providing equipment and manpower.

The project is an offering to the development of education of the youth recognizing their great role in the society, said 55th Engineer 'Mobilizer' Brigade, Deputy Brigade Commander Col. Darwin Hernandez.

“Itong sama-sama nilang pagbibigay tulong o pagcombine ng kinakailangan niyo para maitayo itong CR, ito ang kanilang contribution para ang ating kabataan ay mabigyan ng edukasyon at mai-angat ang bansang Pilipinas,” he said.

Lt.Col. Hassan Badar, Commanding Officer of the 554th Engineer “Kalilintad” Battalion, said that his troop worked overtime to beat the timeline plotted for the construction.

The Kiwanis Club of Metropolitan Iligan also revealed that despite the big funding the project requires, they still pushed through with it as it was aligned with their goal of assisting the government in delivering aid and services to the community although they remain non-partisan.

“At first, hindi namin naisip na makakaya namin kasi malaki ang cost nitong CR compared sa aming projects na soft projects lang. Nagkataon lang po na kapag determinado ka na matapos ang isang project, magagawa niyo talaga,” said President Lucille Therese Marcera.

Apart from the comfort room, the sponsoring NGOs including the Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology National Multi-purpose Cooperative (MSU-IIT NMPC) distributed school supplies, slippers, and meals to 163 learners of the school.

"If for others this is just a small help, but to us, this is a big thing. Long time ago, we did not experience this kind of CR... I hope this will not just be the only help for our barangay. I hope you do not get tired of helping us", said Kalilangan Barangay Captain Alimoding Rojo Mansumayan in a vernacular.
