A report from the Public Assistance Office of Naval Forces Western Mindanao said the BA489, a Navy attack craft, initially rescued four adults and two child passengers of the M/L Farahmae-1 after the latter was spotted 14 nautical miles northwest off Bongao Tawi Tawi Friday morning.

The remaining passengers and crew members waited for another rescue vessel that towed the distressed boat to shore.

Anxious relatives met the passengers of the vessel upon arrival at the Lamion Wharf in Bongao.

It was learned that the M/L Farahmae encountered engine trouble at sea.

RADM Toribio Adaci Jr. NavForWeM Commander, commended the officers and men of the Philippine Navy for the successful rescue.
