Iloilo City locks down specific areas of 20 barangays


ILOILO CITY — Twenty (20) barangays (villages) are currently under granular lockdowns due to high cases of COVID-19 here.

In Executive Order No. 93 issued, Mayor Jerry Treñas ordered for granular lockdown of the 20 barangays after two or more cases are recorded in specific household or households since Thursday, September 9.

Under granular lockdown are specific areas of Barangays North San Jose, Boulevard, Sta. Cruz, Sooc, M.H. Del Pilar, San Pedro, San Vicente, Dungon B, Mv Hechanova, Balabago, Buntatala, Balantang, Tacas, Guzman Jesena, Bo. Obrero, Quintin Salas, San Isidro, Banuyao, Estanzuela, and Hipodromo.

Under the mayor’s executive order, persons in the specified granular lockdowns are not allowed to go out.

Iloilo City is still currently under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) status after being under ECQ for July 16-August 15.

There has been no significant drop of new COVID-19 cases for almost a month as the daily average is still more than 100.

Due to this, Treñas urged people to stay home or have a work-from-home arrangements.

Almost all hospitals in the city no longer have beds for COVID-19 patients.
