MALASIQUI, Pangasinan – Pangasinan is now under blue alert status as the entire province has been placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 due to Typhoon Jolina.
In an interview, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) emergency operations center manager Shallom Balolong said national line agencies, such as the Philippine National Police, Philippine Army, Philippine Coast Guard, among others, will send augmentation to the province.
“As discussed in our pre-disaster assessment meeting, the typhoon might traverse near Pangasinan and it will bring heavy rains and strong winds hence, we are preparing for these,” he said.
Balolong said they are collaborating with the Provincial Engineering Office for vehicles that can be used in possible evacuations.
“We have already coordinated with the local government units while information dissemination is ongoing in our social media page on how the residents will prepare for the typhoon as well as other information,” he added.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said “Jolina” moved west-northwestward over Sibuyan Sea with winds 100 kilometers per hour (km/h) and gustiness of 125 km/h as of 5 p.m. Tuesday.
