Manila to evacuate hundreds of families due to Typhoon Jolina

Typhoon Jolina has prompted the evacuation of hundreds of families in Manila on Sept. 8 (Wednesday).

Manila Department of Social Welfare Director Re Fugoso said evacuations will be done in Baseco, and Barangays 20 and 105 in Tondo.

Starting 4 p.m., around 100 families will be temporarily moved from their homes in Barangay 20, which is near the sea, according to the MDSW.

Evacuation in Baseco will begin at 5 p.m.

Over 100 families in Barangay 105 will also have to relocate temporarily due to the typhoon.

Meanwhile, Fugoso said daycare workers in Barangay 128 in Tondo are on standby for possible evacuation.

The Manila Police District (MPD) will assist in the evacuation of the affected residents.

As of 2:30 p.m., only Recto Avenida and Doroteo Jose Avenida are not passable to light vehicles.
