2 barangays in Caloocan under granular lockdown due to COVID spike

Caloocan City Mayor Oscar "Oca" Malapitan announced on Wednesday that two barangays in the city have been placed under granular lockdown due to the high number of COVID-19 cases in these areas.

In a Facebook post, Malapitan said that Barangay 56 (#62 Building along Ipil Street, 7th Ave.) was placed under granular lockdown from September 7 to 11:59 p.m. of September 16, while Barangay 185 (Ilang-ilang Street Broadway Alley) was placed under granular lockdown starting Sept. 8 until 11:59 p.m. of September 17.

"Bago ipatupad ang lockdown ay tiniyak natin na naabisuhan ang mga apektadong residente na hindi sila maaaring lumabas. Papayagan lamang ay ang mga medical workers, pulis, empleyado ng lokal na pamahalaan at ng barangay (Before we implemented the lockdown, we made sure that all affected residents have been informed that they cannot leave their homes. Only medical workers, the police, and local government employees are allowed to go outside)," Malapitan said.

"Habang naka-lockdown, magsasagawa ng mass swab testing at contact tracing ang pamahalaang lungsod upang matukoy at kaagad na ma-isolate ang iba pang positibo sa sakit. Kasabay nito, magsasagawa rin ng disinfecting operations at house-to-house na pamamahagi ng food packs para sa mga apektadong residente (While on lockdown, the city government will conduct mass swab testing and contact tracing to identify and isolate COVID-19 positive individuals. It will conduct house-to-house disinfecting operations and provide affected residents with food packs)," he added.
