Half a million Cebuanos now vaccinated


CEBU CITY – More than 500,000 residents in the province of Cebu have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

Dr. Christina Giango, chief of the Provincial Health Office, said 521,684 individuals in the province have been vaccinated.

Of the figures, 300,589 (20%) have received their first dose while 221, 095 (14. 7%) have already been administered with two doses.

The province has a population of 3.2 million people.

Giango said the province is targeting to inoculate 1,501,639 individuals under the A1- A5 priority groups.

Vaccination drive in the province’s 44 towns and six component cities is ongoing, Giango said.

Vaccinations are being held in rural health offices, municipal gyms or some malls.

The province owns the most active COVID-19 cases in Central Visayas.

As of September 5, the province had 4,631 active cases, 26,264 recoveries and 1,721 deaths.
