‘Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha’ increases ratings with third episode

Shin Min-a and Kim Seon-ho’s Korean drama “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” increased its ratings with the airing of the third episode on Sept. 4.

Based on Nielsen Korea numbers, the third episode of “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” got ratings of 8.7 percent nationwide with a peak rating of 10.2 percent in South Korea, and 9 percent with a peak of 10.9 percent in the metropolitan area to place first based on paid platforms cable, IPTV and satellite TV.

This is the highest rating to date. “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” premiered on Aug. 28 with a nationwide rating of 6.821 percent followed by 6.666 percent for the second episode. The third episode is higher by 2 percentage points from the second.

In the coveted 20-49 age group, the latest episode of “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” got an average rating of 4.4 percent with a peak of 5.2 percent in the metropolitan area, and 4.5 percent with a peak of 5.3 percent nationwide.

According to streaming analytics website FlixPatrol, “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” is the No. 1 TV show on Netflix in this week in the Philippines, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand, and No. 2 in Vietnam and No. 3 in South Korea.

“Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” tells the story of Yoon Hye-jin (played by Shin Min-a), a dentist who moves to the town of Gongjin where he meets Hong Du-sik (Kim Seon-ho), a jack-of-all-trades.

In the third episode, Hye-jin is scheduled to attend a schoolmate’s wedding and ordered a lot of clothes that were delivered by Du-sik.

On the day of the wedding, Du-sik asked her for a favor for him and three grandmothers to ride with her to go to Seoul. Du-sik was also able to find the lost shoe of Hye-jin and surprised her.

Episode 4 of “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” will air tonight (Sept. 5) on JTBC and Netflix.
